7:00 AM CDT ATLANTIC BASIN TROPICAL UPDATE
MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 2004
Danielle's remnants continue meandering around the far Eastern Atlantic now moving in northerly direction about 775 miles Southwest of the Azores Islands. There continues to be no signs of redevelopment with this system.
The tropical wave to the Southwest of the Cape Verde Islands continues moving westerly at about 18 mph. A broad area of mid and low level rotation continues to be evident in satellite imagery, however convection associated with this disturbance is displaced well West of the wave due to strong Easterly shear in the region. This system continues to show potential for development and will be closely monitored by the Storm2k forecast team for any further signs of development.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, no tropical storm development is expected Tuesday.
