So far this year...

#1 Postby Anonymous » Mon Aug 23, 2004 4:25 am

Charley will be retired after devestating Southwest Florida as a category 4 hurricane killing over 25 people and causing roughly 20 billion dollars in damage. By the way:

MOST COSTLY HURRICANES

1. Andrew 92'
2. Charley 04' <----- ODD HUH?
3. Hugo 89'

Also, France (COUGH) SUCKS (COUGH) has asked us to retire the mae Frances this year, it will be replaced by the name Frog. Anyway, Hurricane Season 2004 has proved to be one hell of a season.

Aw, you non Frenchies are just jealous. Is it because all people of French extraction are excellent cooks? Or because you can cuss someone out in French and it still sounds like poetry? Or because the French are better looking than the Anglos and have better teeth? Or because we can drink nearly any other nationality under the table? Or some inferiority complex because France had to save America during the revolutionary war? I think the high and mighty attitude is justified.

Animal names sound like a good idea. I think we should have a hurricane Alligator next year. Why not? The Pacific gets cool names like shoe flower.

Well at least Frances is a hurricane. If she's gonna be forced into retirement, I was hoping she'd at least go out as a hurricane.

With the way she is strengthening, I don't think Frances is gonna go out quietly.

I still don't see what the problem with Frances is. It's simply the female version of the name "Francis". It might not be now, but in the past, it was a common name in the U.S.

Frances Farmer, Frances McDormand, Frances Fisher, Frances Sternhagen.....

Maybe we should replace it with "Frenchie".

Frances has been used in the Atlantic since 1961. Why now complain about it if it has been used 7 times already (now 8 times)?

I see no reason to retire Frances. Unless, of course, it ends up making landfall and causing death and destruction.

Maybe the WMO will come to their senses and keep in mind that hurricanes are ONLY retired when they cause death and destruction.
