Feeling comfortable using your mic with others home

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Tue Aug 24, 2004 6:20 pm

This thread has a point to be posted in the Hurricane Hollow Tropical Weather forum... but would probably be moved here.

I know this will be considered a foolish issue, but what the heck it's on my mind.

Do you find talking to others online via your mic easy to do with others (such as your parents, as I do) not too far away?

I bring this up because I don't have much to say on S2K Teamspeak broadcasts and even more not wanting to "be talking
to myself" with my parents in the other room.

What are your feelings about this probably ignorant topic?

I live alone, so obviously it's not an issue for me. But I know some TeamSpeak users who spoke online were not home alone and didn't seem to have a problem with it.

It doesn't bother me at all unless it is late at night and I get too loud and get a nasty holler from the other room to SHUTUP!!!LOLOLOL!!!!!

Of course, if you haven't noticed, I can be somewhat outspoken, brash, whatever you want to call it.

Right, Shawn, I know most people don't have a problem with it.

It is an issue for me, so, I thought I would bring it up.

Tom, that is a very good point. I always feel slightly self conscious when at home and am talking on the mic if people are around. I don't know why, but I do. I guess it is because they haven't quite grasped the whole "internet age" thing.

When I am @ my place... not a problem at all.

Get a headset, they are pretty cheap and it feels like your talking on the phone! ;)

That's an issue too, when I am not comfortable talking on the phone.

I hate talking on the phone, but using a headset doesn't bother me. While it is the same, it is somewhat different, too. (If that makes any sense!)

It's nice of you to be considerate of other people who might be around while you're chatting online. As long as you keep your voice to a reasonable level, I'm sure your parents or whoever else might be around wouldn't mind. Me personally, I'm not into talking on the internet. I just prefer typing. ;)

It isn't being considerate to my parents (I don't live with anyone else on a regular basis) that's the 'problem.' I simply can't get myself to interact. don't feel comfortable taking part in the discussion on the NHCWX.com.

I have been corresponding some when they are in bed and when I'm home alone.

I hope that as time goes on this will change. The sooner, the better.

I obvioulsy prefer typing to others, too. :)
