Anybody remember someone named Liz?
I seem to be suddenly remembering various people from my earlier online days, lol. If you remember my thread about Jackie (raine) from a week or two ago. Anyway, I just happened to see her name on my AIM buddy list this afternoon (I won't post the screen name for privacy reasons). It took me a while but I finally remembered that it was some girl named Liz from way back on the weather.com boards. I haven't chatted with her in probably a couple of years or more but I know I used to some. I think she was in her mid-teens. Does anyone else remember her? I guess I'm trying to find online friends who have been lost through the years.

Sure do! HurricaneLiz was her nic or something like that, correct? What I remember is she was posting like crazy over at TWC boards and somehow revealed she wasn't 13 yet. I want to say she was 11! Same age as my daughter Laura then. Laura's 14 now so it sounds about right. Anyway, she lost her posting priviledges there and had to wait until she was 13. When she was of age to post, I think she came back. Azskyman/Steve would know for certain. He used to keep in touch with her.
I liked Liz and I have to say she didn't seem at all her age! She seems years beyond her true age. And then we had those that were in their 20s, stirring up trouble, acting HER age!!! Always thought it was unfair that she couldn't post, but rules are rules I guess.

Yeah that's it, hurricaneliz! Glad somebody else remembers her too. I wish she would come over here, I hate it when we lose a friend.
Steve, if you don't think she would mind (which I doubt she would), could you PM me her email address? Either that or give her mine and ask her to contact me. Thanks!

I hate to lose them too (that's why I want ~you~ to stick around Kevin!!!). She would have loved it here 2 Friday's ago as Charley was barreling towards FL. I can't remember where she lives though....I want to say maybe the Midwest? Illinois?

Liz is from New Jersey. At the time we knew her, she lived within view of the World Trade Center when it was lost. I'm sure that had an impact on her too. I have purged email addresses a few times since then, but if I discover it again, I'll give it a try and share it for your other appeals.

Steve - now I remember! New Jersey is a long way from Illinois! If you find her email addy, please send her mine.
Kevin - she may still post at TWC boards. I thought she returned there after turning 13 with a different nic. Don't ask me what that was though, it was completely different from HurricaneLiz I think.

Kevin - I have no idea! I'll try to remember. Maybe Tracy/TLC might know. This was a long time ago though.
Sorry I can't help you out.
I miss former friends too. I remember someone from south-eastern Indiana, who didn't live far from Cincinnati. He'd come into the chat room warning me of coming storms. I think his nic was SevereTstorm? Mackenzie was his real name. I miss Jan and her son Justin also.

i remember liz. there were times she took a beating by some adults on TWC yet stood her ground in a very tactful manner. her conduct on the forums was a testiment to maturity. there were times you would've thought she was 40. amazing how eloquent she was for as young as she was at the time.
(good to see you are still around too kevin)

It was amazing the way she conducted herself Pawlee, especially when we all read that she was 11! I think we all did a collective huh? Rules are rules though and they had to ban her. Well, we know TWC is a stickler for rules.....still can't 'find' her though.
Hoping she still lurks over at TWC boards and sees my thread. Maybe I should start one on the Tropics board too? I would think with it being cane season, that might be the forum she's reading right now. Trouble is some folks will wonder if we've jumped to the L's, if I post HurricaneLiz!

I recall HurricaneLiz quite well; she was a JOY to read and respond to, and very much more mature than some of the childhood-regressed "adults" in there at the time.
She should be well over the age limit now; I'm certain coppertop would like the company! If she CAN be found, please implore her to join us here.

Bill - I'm a trying! You can't post anything storm2k related apparently over at the 'other place'. Yesterday I tried storm two kay dot org (direct links are out). My post appeared for an hour then got deleted. I finally just added my email addy to my bio there, temporarily, I'll take it out soon. Hope I won't regret posting it but I'm still hoping I get an email from Liz. I did a google search on coolbeanz and found a post on a wx board from 2003. The girl posted her email addy, so I thought oh this has to be our Liz. The topic was about hurricanes. But the email came back and then I clicked on another link for coolbeanz, turns out her name is Brenda, she's married and has a kid. I know that's not our Liz. I was so close too...or thought I was. I know she'd like it here too.
I'll just keep bumping up my two topics at TWC. They can't delete a post from me if all I post is - bump!
Mary
PS - I agree, it was a JOY posting with her. Another way to describe Liz was - refreshing. She wasn't rude, she had a passion for wx and carried herself quite well. She has to be in ELO/gifted type classes or has skipped several grades in school! I think she impressed just about everybody but the Admin at TWC.
