At the 5pm newscast, local weather god Bob Breck, on Fox 8 new orleans, extrapolated out --actually, he drew a line with his finger! -- extending the NHC track into the Gulf and right on up to Louisiana. He said IF the storm were to come our way in LA, it would be Labor Day weekend. He's not sayin it is, but he's not sayin it ain't. I think he also said he's not buying into a possible N turn up the east coast yet.

Here in the Cape, there hasn't been much talk of Frances at all. As a matter of fact when I mention it to people at work, many of them say "it'll never hit us...we already had Charley... and that Donna was over 40 years ago, so Charley was a freak of nature!" As much as I hope that they're right, I wish Charley would have at least woke them up to the possiblity of a hit!

I can NEVER get over the fact how stupid "most" people are about weather, climate, or especially meteorology ! Gosh - I had mentioned other but related things at work about weather, like this cold August up north and they didn't know a damned thing about it, or anything !! Their attitude was "oh yeagh it's hot today though" Duh............. Do they understand how important this is ??? Do they even know that crops were destroyed up there and could affect them personally ?? The media must be doing a terrible job informing people about this. Then when it gets to hurricanes they are just as ignorant or "don't want to know" People are so stupid about this whole subject of weather it's totaly pathetic to me. Just like my two roomates - I personally don't pay much attention to them because they are totally useless to me...............

I've heard many weather conversations in the past, and I'm always laughing at their comments - although I don't say much. Most don't have the slightest idea what they are talking about. One time I brought up models and got a little technical and they were "just silent"
Duh...........................I guess they didn't understand it - their brains are too slow to even know what a cold front is ! Don't they teach science in school anymore these days ??? Am I seeing the "dumbing down process" strongly at work in this country ???? It's a shame but I guess it's true. Too many people into rap music, drugs, comedy shows, basketball....etc...etc.

Then there's the subject of snow. Boy are people stupid about that ---- there was a guy at a game that said "oh -the last time it ever snowed here was back in 1989.............................

duh.............. Wrong Again ! I guess people have a terrible memory. It snowed here in 2003 January, and also we had over 2 inches in Jan.2000. Do people remember that at all ???? then they act like it never snows here ever again ! Talking of stupid !!! I guess most people don't know much about the law of averages. I guess because of the national media, the average person is too brainwashed these days about Global Warming ! Hearing those two words makes me puke :grr: :grr:
