Frances & Floyd 1st Cousins?

#1 Postby tropicstorm » Fri Aug 27, 2004 8:43 pm

Frances is taking almost an exact early Floyd track moving NNW & crossing 50W at 16N. Floyd started that WNW turn at about 23N at 63W. Frances should begin that WNW & west track a lot sooner than Floyd did, and that should keep this powerful hurricane a bit to the west of the eventual Floyd track into the Bahamas. What is the consensus here that this Bermuda High ridge will build westerly enough to keep Frances on a course to impact South Florida & not make that NW curvature to the Carolinas that Floyd did? It seems that there always is a bit of a natural tendency to underestimate this eventual NW turn.

Well frances never did move in a NNW direction since she's been alive. More like NW.
