Central Florida got hit by 2 HURRICANES in the same season..

I know we get on average 1-2 tropical storms a season.. But Charley was our worst since 1960 and 1st since 1995..

so when was the last time we had 2 HURRICANES in the same season

charlie was actually a South Florida hit...

Yes it was.. but it also made a direct "hit" on Central Florida when he came through here after he came onshore :wink:

It happened in 1871 (2 hurricanes), 1928 (2), 1933 (2), 1945 (2), 1968 (4). So 1968...of course...that depends on where you put the window.

I have a FEMA program that does the dirty work and you can adjust the window in size and location and find which storms track through it. FOr this one, I made a window 120 miles wide by 180 miles tall and centered it in central Florida.

You are correct. I had the program tagged to display all the hurricanes in that area. Abby was a hurricane and weakened rapidly right as it got to land. Dolly and Brenda became hurricanes after they moved through Florida. My Bad. I forgot to set the program to show intensity at landfall instead of peak.
