That's a good possibility Floyd. I also think there is a good likelihood for further strengthening later today with Frances. Latest satellite picks out a better defined eye and perhaps we maybe ending the eyewall replacement cycle from last night. I'm betting this becomes a huge buzzsaw with possibly a studium effect eye appearing as early as later on today.

HUMM... major F named storms... Frances, Floyd, Florence, Fay, Fabian, Frances... all were at one time west of 50 degrees west. Just a little tidbit.

I remember Felix back in '01 also, but way out in the Atlantic. I think Felix was a major hurricane in Sept of '01. Hurricane Erin moved up along the east coast while Felix was roaring on the other side of the Atlantic Basin. But we unfortunately had the 9-11 event just as that was occurring.
