Scary new 5-day Frances track map.....
http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tr ... _5day.html
Anyone in that cone needs to have preparations ready very soon. It almost unimaginable what will occur in S. Florida if this track holds up in the long run.
If Frances manages to sneak through the Straits, then Key West, et al, will be ravaged and the eveyone in the GOM will be risk.
Y'all stay safe and very alert.

Wait a minute...doesn't that give evidence that she is more then Cat 3? I don't know anything about mesovortices besides they occur in very powerful hurricanes...can someone discuss them and what it means about Frances. Thanks

That doesn't explain it, though. A high and low are opposites, why two different circulation centers at the same location cause a [more]
northerly moving tropical cyclone?
The only thing that makes sense would be the low and high pressure systems being at the low, mid or upper levels of the atmosphere.

Here we are very vigilant, this is a very serious threat, I think the worse since Floyd in 1999. As many of you know Floyd was a threat for South Florida until it moved northwestward, but lots of rain felt leaving tremendous floods. I don't like to say that we are in the path of Frances since the range of uncertainty is great to 120 hours or more. Let say something more, last year we had an extremely active season as everyone knows, but the 3rd Major Hurricane which was Kate formed in October, now we are in the last days of August and we are dealing with the 3rd Major Hurricane of the Season. Seven tropical systems in August, that is tremendous, and still we may have another tropical system in the next 24 hours. We may end up with 8 tropical systems as August ends.

Oh yes! Hurricane Isabel's Star Trek Communicator we all grew so fond of.
I wouldn't call it a true beeline. Some changes in movement W, WNW, NW over the coming days are
quite possible with this and other hurricanes, especially one of this strength (and size).

lol roland and NBC 6 are right around the corner from my house. I seriously doubt that their station can handle 115mph winds. Safe to say, IF Frances comes our way Roland will NOT be live on TV.
