Is this possible???

#1 Postby Valkhorn » Sat Aug 28, 2004 4:15 pm

I know it's a long way out, and with the GFS it isn't very likely. However is this possible?

This has Frances crossing florida and making landfall near New Orleans. The forecasted winds are amazing.

I just want to know if this scenario is possible with Frances. [/img]

With Frances projected track I'd have to say right now it is possible. The good thing is that we all have plenty of time to get ready if it does.

It gets worse. Take a look at the winds and wind gusts.

According to the prognosticated GFS, Panama City will recieve gusts to 120mph.

I checked and hurricane force gusts are predicted with the GFS from New Orleans to Tallahassee with the GFS.

If it pans out, that'd be very destructive.

Yes, if this thing crosses Florida and hits Miami first, thengoes into GOM and htis New Orleans, that would be horrific.

If this track and intensity solution comes to pass (and that is a very big IF at this stage of the game), Frances could be the worst natural disaster in US history. VERY SCARRY

Accuweather forcast site, always fun to look at lol. I think I remember it calling for snow and 100 mph winds sometime last June

Seahawk, it's not accuweather's data. It's the GFS data.

It's made strange errors before, but the past few runs have been extremely consistent. Don't blame AW for that, blame the GFS.

Thank you, I never realized it was a direct extrapolation of GFS. My faith in Accuweather is restored.

I just reread that and it sounded like I was being sarcastic. I'm sorry I really wasn't.

Well as articles have pointed out that could be so destructive that it would affect our economy tremendously, not to mention the lives of so many people..And this may sound barbaric in a sense but if it were to happen I would suggest shorting the stock market...

Am I not mistaken, or are the strongest winds east of the center?

And man, that's a pretty large windfield if that pans out! No matter where it comes ashore a lot of people will be impacted.
