local mets from MB to Wilmington have given this storm little more than lip service. During half time of the Pats / Panthers game one met from CBS Wilmington said there will be some rain associated with a TS tue / wed look to be beautiful days.

That is exactly my concern. No, it's not Fran, Floyd, Andrew, or Camille,
but it is still a TS/Hurricane, and they are already warning of heavy rain.
Flash floods kill a lot of people every year without tropical systems being involved.

People on this board are talking more about Frances, because it's "the big one", that people wanted, but it's not likely make landfall anywhere for at least 5 days. But I'm sure the people in SC are more concerned about Gaston right now. It wouldn't suprise me Gaston becomes more of beast than originally thought.

With Gaston being the closest trouble maker to the US, it's interesting to note that most of the attention has been on Frances--mainly due to the intensity. However, let's not forget that Gaston seems to be intensifying rather quickly taping the warm gulf stream waters. It is quite hard to pinpoint a movement on the storm because I can't find radar loops long enough to show a distinct movement. I would say Gaston is moving about 340/2...or 340 degrees (NNW at less than 5 mph). Gaston will likely strengthen into at least a minimal Category 1 hurricane before landfall somewhere around Charleston, SC tomorrow evening. The forecast tracks have also shifted to the left of the previous forecast and BAMM looks like it takes Gaston right over DC...intersting system to watch.

Hurricane Warning, Charleston
I've been away from the TV/computer since about 7pm... so I don't know how new this is, but Charleston is being given a Hurricane Warning for Gaston now. Mobile Home dwellers are being asked to evacuate, and they've locked down all the draw bridges. (meaning, no more raising of the bridges for boats... they're accomodating vehicular traffic and trying to keep the bridges from moving too much)

ABC, Tropical Storm / Flood Watch warnings. There are no Hurricane Watch or Warnings posted... interesting that they list Horry County with a Tropical Storm Warning... they are actually under a Hurricane Warning.
NBC Nothing
CBS Nothing
UPN Nothing
PS... I am definitely not attempting to call your mom out... no disrespect. I am just pointing out that coverage is dismal for this storm!
