I found the site through google and it was the second one listed. I think I typed in (exact phrase) message board and on the top line weather tropical, and the rest is history.

Brand spankin' new here (just registered) I have been viewing the posts here for a couple of months and this is a FANTASTIC arena to get the most updated info. I see the NHC updates here far before they are available on their site and I have been coming here first to get the most updated info on models, discussions, etc. The mets here have really impressed me.

Keep up the good work. I will not clutter the discussions with New England -removed-, but if there is ever a storm up this way (and it has been a long time) I live 100 yards from the Atlantic and can put up obs and info for the SE New England coast. I would gladly take Frances off of the plate of Florida because I know that Charley was a catastrophe and anything that comes here would pale in comparison to what a major cane would do down there as they have already been whacked. It doesn't seem likely that I will have any crazy stories about Fraces, but who knows? ..... there is a lot of season left and we are overdue up here to say the least!!!

Look forward to being a part of this great site!

I frequented the GOPBI board for the past few years during hurricane season and was referred over to this site and I must say there is a much better atmosphere here! :P

Last year, as Isabel approached, I wanted more information. I did a search and that lead me here.

Like many others, frantic Web searching led me to Mid-AtlanticWX's tropical site, which referred me here. Glad to have found you guys. Our first year in FLA, 1999, we had just moved into our house when Floyd came barrelling toward us. Have been so lucky since so am now doing a crash course on 'canes. A newbie question: how big (miles/KM) is each degree of latitude/longitude? Thanks. and safe thoughts to all.

In answer to the question, each degree of latitude is about 110.95 km or 68.94 miles.

A link was posted on Warchant.com, a FSU sports site, where I moderate. I followed the link and became hooked on accurate information. Much better than I'm finding elsewhere.

Thanks for the good info and anyone in the path of Frances, DUCK!
