This system has a closed surface cirulation with flare ups of covnection. Still needs to be watched!

It's quite obvious. It's had one for a few days already. In fact, the latest quickscat is misleading. The actual LLC is farther NE near the edge of the convective mass. There seems to be some easterly shear, but not enough to keep this from strengthening gradually. It should become a tropical storm...

Interesting, now that Gaston is getting out of the way is possible it will have a better chance to develop, let see.

Latest satellite image indicates slightly better organization. I would expect a tropical depression rather soon. This system will miss the United States shoreline due to the same trough that is carrying Gaston northward, but it could be a problem as an extratropical gale for the maritimes of Canada.
