Wow, power, phone, internet, oh my. Can't believe life is getting back to normal. Charley kicked my neighborhoods butt pretty good, but as of today, all the services are restored. Sigh, if only all the cleanup was done.

Thanks so much. Everyone was safe, and that is the most important thing. We'll be busy for a while repairing damage, but I consider us very fortunate. My heart goes out to those folks farther south that had no home to go back too.............Dave.

So glad you've returned to the 21st century! A hurricane coming through your neighborhood is certainly one way to thrust someone back to the dark ages. Welcome back to the land of a/c and hot water!

Thanks, it was definately an experience. Those that are closest to me are now my wife, children, and generator, LOL! That generator was a blessing, that, and getting prepared ahead of time.

I just wanted to say to those out there that think that if you aren't right on the coast, hurricanes aren't a big deal, take it from me, that is as wrong as it gets! And another thing, get gas, and as much as you can get, well ahead of time. It won't be there after the storm. I filled the tanks on the vehicles, and had enough gas to run the generator for two days, it wasn't enough. You don't want to be on the roads, even if they are navigatable, after the storm, no traffic lights really make driving interesting!

I want to thank everyone on the board, if not for you guys, I wouldn't have been as prepared as I was, as early as I was. The general concensus on this board was right on, and well ahead of the local mets, and the official NHC predictions, and based on that information, I acted early. I can't stress enough how invaluable that was to me and my family. Again, thanks so much, and this board is great!

Glad you are back safe and sound. I saw enough from my brief visit to Charlotte County (just a 40 minute drive down the road from my home in Sarasota) to know that just getting the simple "comforts" of life back is quite an accomplishment!! Let's hope Frances keeps far away from those still dealing with the aftermath of Charley!!

Hi, Drudd -- 95% of my coworkers live in Orlando so I hear frequent updates. I'm hearing a new respect among them about the power of these storms now that some "inlanders" have witnessed.

Very happy to hear that you've mostly recovered.
