Actually
He was fired from the Mothership..NBC itself..the same NBC that released a lame response earlier Sunday, noting that brave journalists risk thier lives. You bet they do..and Arnett put his fellow journalists in harms way himself.Nice move Pete.
He obviously sucked up to Iraqi state TV to avoid beeing booted from Iraq to 'get the story'.It backfired royally and not only will he not get the story since he is out of a job...he cant even free lance, since his Press Credentials were yanked..which means he has no way to protect himself now.In other words..he is just another American Dog to the Iraqis that used him.Now he has no free pass.Matter of fact..he may be in deep sh!t.
If I were he..I would hightail it to France, pronto before he is thrown in an Iraqi Gulag...albeit that may be a fitting place for him.He could even be kidnapped or taken as hostage which would really throw a monkey wrench in the mix for our other POWs including some journalists.Man did he screw up.

Well, soon Iraq won't have any Western journalists in its borders, save the 'embedded' ones with the coalition forces...they have been deporting them at a rapid clip, and Peter was amoing the very few left, which doesn't surprise me at all...he has made friends with Iraqi functionaries since before the first bombs dropped in 1991, and now that they are way up in the food chain in Saddam's regime, he was using them, and they him. Wonder if HE is the next candidate for Nelly's Nipples, Nevada's late-night huntin'-fishin' show?

I hate to sound so Jaded, however from a PR standpoint NBC had no choice. They would have been skewered had they attempted to defend him,and the equivelant of Media suicide...MSNBC is struggling as it is.
This is not what they needed.
