Another eyewall replacement cycle?

#1 Postby ALhurricane » Sun Aug 29, 2004 3:21 pm

Based on the latest satellite imagery it looks as if Frances might be in the beginning stages of another eyewall replacement cycle. This just happens to coincide with Recon flying in the storm. Could very well see some flunctuations in intensity as it goes through the cycle and recon should be able to give us more info about it.

If there was one recon would have reported concentric eyewalls. They didn't report any.

I hate it when this happens (when recon flys in however its not as strong due to the eye wall cycle). But I'd definitly say there is an eye wall cycle going on now.

Very good point, Derecho. Something to keep an eye on (no pun intended) since it would seem to be about the time for another one to occur. Watch and wait as always.

It was good to see recon find the pressure close to what the NHC estimated.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but the fact that they haven't found concentric eyewalls could very well mean that she HAS been going through an eyewall replacement cycle and the outer wall has just replaced the inner wall, so a new outer wall has not yet formed--therefore, no concentric eyewall at this time.

Is that not possible?
