Never seen so much hype.....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I think if something is so ridculous it will be ignored and off the page in a hurry. I think it's easy to judge what posts pretain to viable information and which posts don't

Geoff Stormcloud wrote:Sure there is hype. Just this morning on the radio here in New Orleans emergency managers will be meeting early tomorrow to discuss evacuations. These are the same people that predict New Orlans and its surounding areas will be un-inhabital for 10 months after a cat 4 or 5 direct hit us.... now thats hype.

I personally love the discussions and to see what others think.

And we love you, too. (((GROUP HUGS)))

Sorry... I got a little carried away!

I'm not going to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't post. I do have a modest request, though: COMPLETE SUBJECT LINES!

These are the worst:
"What's happening?"
"Oh no!"
"The 12z run shows"
"What?"
or my favorite:
"I have a question"

Dave

IMHO, subject lines are like headlines. The catchier they are... the more people read them. Like it or not...

Exactly, wx247. 8-)

Since I don't live in a hurricane threat zone, except for the extremely unlikely chance of flash flooding this far inland, I tend to think of big established storms in terms of which large U.S. population center could reasonably be within the path of the storm the earliest. In this case, Miami is the closest and earliest U.S. city to that potential danger.

At 1200Z Frances was 7.2S 25.5E of Miami, FL. That is the prime number that I'm going to monitor until and if Miami escapes the danger. I'll use the current forecast locations as a reference to see where this system stands compared to that forecast, which has Frances about 230 miles due east of Miami at 8 am on Friday.

Below I've expanded on the information in the official forecast advisory to include current forward speed/projected speed, last location fix change, statute miles from last fix, and statute miles from Miami.

New Orleans is smart. Why not start getting plans together now? What is the population in New Orleans now? 500,000?

New Orleans will always be threatened because it's shaped like a bowl.

Also, I hate all these posts with.... You know the worst case scenario?
The storm hits Miami and then hits New Orleans and comes back into the gulf and hits Houston.....

Yes, that would be amazing, but no one truly wants to see that happen. If you wish this one hurricane to destroy three huge towns on the gulf coast, that is you.

Some of these topics are just plain stupid and yes I do not reply to them.

know one forces you to read the posts...you can scroll pretty easily... i do it all the time....now i do dislike the fact that sometimes theres 4 headlines (subjects) dealing with the exact same thing....maybe the forum moderator should be putting these all under the same subject or something.....
