Folks, this is what I see happening:
1) A tremendously powerful high building west shoving Francis west and west/northwest..
2) Another area of high pressure quickly building north from the Bahamas
3) A weakening ULL north of Cuba
4) Remnants of Gaston holding back the eagerly awaited life saving shortwave
Conclusion: This storm cannot go north beyond WPB, and it appears that she will cross into the Gulf
Unbelievable!!

While I've kept quiet about the future beyond 72 hours, today I've noticed
that it appears there is a ULL around 73W 23N, and high pressure over
northern Florida. This would indeed cause what you've said.

Gaston will be long gone in 48 hours, what will hold it back then?
Nothing...but by then the delay in arrival of the shortwave will make a big difference to a great number of Floridians
