it seemed like it took FOREVER to move through central north carolina today. We got like 4-5 inches of rain, from like about 5 this mornin till about 2:30 this afternoon. The worst here in person county being from about 8:30-11:15
Id say we had sustained winds of about 15-20 with gusts up to about 30. The rain was really comin down and half the roads around my school were flooded.

RDU officially got about 2.50" give or take a little. seems like the places that didn't get the "eye" of gaston got more rain only because the rain became lighter towards the center. Places that didn't get a direct hit, but were still close to the center received rains of 3-6" depending on the locations.

JB always gets slammed...so I am going to give him a prop. This is what he said about Gaston earlier today...and I kinda thought he was nuts.
"But now some real fun starts. Winds are already gusting to 30 mph on the lower Chesapeake and wet bulbs are in the low to mid 80s there in the path of the storm, well above the 79-degree water temperature needed for development. So I am going to watch to see if the ideas on the endgame here are right."

Gaston TKO's Hermine!
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT ... -loop.html
Wow, Poor Hermine didn't stand a chance! Hermine has literally dissapated while Gaston strengthens. This fight wasn't fair, I wan't my money back!

I hate to say it, but yea Gaston could potentially become a storm after moving offshore. But this should be brief. After all the issues down in the VA area, particularly Richmond, we got Frances to worry about from Myrtle Beach down through Key West and it could be a category 4 or 5 hurricane on the saffir simpson scale when it strikes the United States Labor Day weekend. This is a situation that comes at a worse time when folks want to vacation on the beaches for the last time potentially this summer season.
