I'm not trying sound the alarm here and I know we still have a long way to go but man does this not remind you of Andrew?

Andrew was on steaming along almost due west and the NHC kept on saying he's gonna turn, he's gonna turn. Well like I've said before on another post, the rest is history. You know I wouldn't be so concerned for South Florida if it wasn't for the increase in forward speed and lack of more northward motion.
Yeah she's wobbling a little north here and there but it's
mostly a westward motion. I guess I need to take my on advice
and calm down. :)

comsidering you are in houston i would suggest you calm.

Actually this system has very little in common with Andrew other then the fact that it is a strong storm threatening SoFla. Andrew was very weak going NW to around 25n over Puerto Rico being pulled north by a trough when a ridge built in pulling it close to due westward and strengthening it significantly thereafter. Frances is much more similar to many of the long running cape verde systems that hit SoFla in the 20's and 40's.

Regardless of him being in Houston, he made a point that he was concerned about south Florida.

TCVN is a weighted averaged

I agree with CAlm before the storm. This is not a storm like Andrew. I think it resembles a long tracker like the 1928 killer. It is a heavy storm too lots of heavy rain. Andrew was relatively light but deadly with its high winds. Maybe I will get my moneys worth on a hurricane resistant garage door. I am ready to bunker down. Merritt Is. could be under the gun.

Smokin....where are you located on the island. I am told we will be issued mandatory evacuation notices on Thursday. Are you staying? I am in New Found Harbor and I am leaving. Don't know where yet, but count me gone!

that's possible. because we got several days off of school. the weather was beautiful the whole time.

I was in Houston.
