Can't get into chat

Have tried several times to get into chat but can't get it to load ... didn't know if it was me(probably) or if there was some problem with the chat as well. Anybody else or do I have to blame my old overloaded machine?

If you get a security pop-up, you have to click yes. What happens when you try to get in?

I get the gray screen but I don't get the security message that I usually get and one time I got a java message about out of memory, but only got that once
