96 hrs or so from landfall -- time to go shopping

Well, okay, now is probably a weird time because all the stores are most likely closed. But if I lived in FL and I knew a major was about 96 hours from landfall, I'd go ahead and check my supplies now and go shopping for them if I need anything else. Get off the net because time is of the essence. You can come back and check updates here every few hours. Get an oil change and all the fluids topped off if your car needs it or is close to needing it. Fill up the tank and keep it full. Get cash out of the bank and hang onto it. If you get paid Friday, get that cash as soon as possible (even if you evacuate to Nebraska and ATM's still work there, your bank server might be down -- been there, done that with Allison). You can always go back and put it in the bank later. Get all your important papers in a place where you can grab them when you're ready to go.

Face it -- they're your documents, you can keep them where you want to. It's your car, you can fill it up as often as you wish and if the guy behind the counter looks at you silly because you put $1.43 worth in your tank (and it was a fill-up), look at him silly back. It's your money, you can put it in and take it out as often as you want. And if you have 45 AA batteries and 21 lantern batteries, more power to ya (literally).

In other words, do as much as you possibly can NOW so when and if the time comes and you do need to/wish to evacuate, you can do the more serious final home preparations (boards) and then grab everything and go instead of rushing around catching up with last minute little things.

Thoughts and prayers for ya from Galveston. Stay safe. :D
