Models Corrupted Earlier?

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Wed Sep 01, 2004 12:55 am

Copied this from a local weather forum a little bit ago concerning the Northerly track of Frances.

Getting a lot of reports from other sites that the dropsonde data corrupted the models yesterday, hence the northerly tracks according to Mayfield. Hmmmm

Any thoughts??

I heard about the bad dropsonde data. Of course they are machines and they can malfunction at times.

Quite a time for that to happen huh? LOL

Garbage in, garbage out. Looks like whatever the issue was is worked out now, the models are converging nicely. Well, not so nicely really, I'm in Delray Beach and looking at my house structure in ways I never wanted to have to worry about.

Did anybody hear any more about the supposed massive network outage NOAA had the Thursday night before Charley hit on Friday the 13th? What was the cause? (I heard it delayed some alerts or something.)
