Quote "Actually you are wrong, they can stop and make drastic turns. It is funny how some of you are wanting this storm to come and just discredit everyone's opinion."

I dont see it that way just trying to kill the hype often generated by early landfall forecast as we all know they change early but the NHC is pretty good closer to landfall even CHARLEY was in the forecasted path it was the media and local mets who kept hyping tampa! Yes they can make drastic turns I'll give you that and in this case that would probally be the better scenereo cause frances would weaken quite in her North track! BUT there needs to be something there to make it turn and its not! this storm will continue to ride the bootom of the ridge through S.FLA maybe even Keys....most likely S.fla into GOMEX! NOW thats my NOVICE opinion and I'm sure it can be easily discredited!

everyone on this island says no way. Might get a sprinkle. Even if she was headed here, not a lot of locals would leave. The story "cry wolf"
comes in mind for us. We seem to not get anything. We are so inland then NC. Been since 1979 since we felt anything and that one was small.

Frances could be a problem if she rides up the coast before coming in. Not a good scenario for a holiday weekend! Hope local EM get the tourists off the beaches!

one bridge

One bridge off HH won't be enough if it heads there. That island is less worried about canes than Detroit is.

If it hits there, the replacement population may be more wary.

FWIW...

I agree with y'all that Frances ain't making a Floyd-esque turn. Just noting that such things do happen at 16 mph.
