US: IRAQUI LEADERSHIP "WEAKENS"

The Pentagon challenged Saddam Hussein to make a live appearance if he wants to prove he is alive. The comments came amid "historic" coalition bombings on Baghdad.

It would be well to note that high-ranking Iraqi's families (including some of Saddam's relatives) are trying desperately to escape the city...something they wouldn't comtemplate were Saddam still effectively in power.

I hope we get our hands on them before they get out of Iraq. I doubt that Saddam give a damn but it would be great to have them under control. We would also find out about Saddam's status I bet.

I have to question the appearance of his body guard in a video without Saddam. Saddam is NEVER seen without this guard. And why would his family be fleeing to Syria if Saddam is alive? Seems like they would be bunkered down with him. Surely even this tyrant would take care of his many many wives and children.

I don't look for SH to play it our way (proof via live video...current newspaper in hand). Assuming he is even still walking and talking and puffing the big cigar. I hope if he's alive somebody from within takes him out, then parades around the streets of Baghdad with his head on the end of a stick

SOMEBODY in Baghdad has the Command and Control and the wherewithal to be able to reposition the Iraqi forces around the city giving them numerical superiority in weaponry and personnel over our forces.

Rainband...Steve said numerical superiority. :-)

They do have that as well as home field advantage. There isn't any doubt as to the ultimate military outcome but house to house finghting in a city of 5 million will come with a high price I'm sure. There is still hope that it won't come to that but it's getting more likely everyday.
