Reason for disaster activation in GA, SC.....
according to Steve Lyons a few minutes ago, is because even though Frances WILL make landfall in Florida, her storm surge/wave action will impact shorelines from Florida to the Carolinas.

finally a voice of reason. thats good to know and it will shut people up.
Fact is, this storm wont likely pull a Floyd because THERE IS NO STRONG TROUGH OVERRIDING THE RIDGE. the ridge is weakening but 1. FLoyd was much farther north at htis point, 2. Floyd was in a much less gradual recurve, and never went almost directly westl ike Frances is 3. Floyd was carried upwards by a much stronger, vertical trough, and a much weaker ridge and 4. Floyd was a guy. guys make quick haphazard decisions. Frances is a girl, and girls take forever to make up their mind! (just kidding)
