Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 10:30 PM EDT on September 1, 2004

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Frances...centered about 585 miles east-southeast of West Palm Beach
Florida. Disturbed weather is associated with an area of low pressure about 900 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Although
upper-level winds are not especially favorable...this system could become a tropical depression over the next day or so. The tropical wave located a few hundred miles south of the Cape Verde Islands is showing signs of organization...and this system has the potential to develop into a tropical depression over the next day or two as it moves westward. Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through Friday.

There is something about this season that scares me.

It keeps getting more and more ominous.

The end of september may keep us seriously on our toes.

I think the one on the bottom will be Ivan. The bottom one looks to me like it has potential to make it across the atlantic too. Well, just watch the situation. And remember, last year we had two major hurricanes after this date (Fabian was a major already I think). This means that we will probably have 2-3 more majors (just a guesstimate :D). I'd monitor this situation though.

Not only that! You see that wave that is just about to move off the coast of Africa? Well, that one has a low pressure center associated with it and believe it or not, models develop it.

I haven't checked the calendar, so are we in September???
