NEW GFS BREAKS CRACK HABIT

#1 Postby mobilebay » Thu Sep 02, 2004 5:06 am

IT actually shows landfall along the South/Central Florida Coast in 72 Hours, with a trough digging in in the Central CONUS.

Lixion Avila had a talk with the gfs and gfdl and told them that they have made him look bad the last two days and he is tired of getting his forecasts smashed by stacy stewart who is blowing off those models.

This model is way to slow with this system the entire run. However it did improve on track though. It least I hope it's wrong with the speed, because it shows Frances camped out in Florida for a long time, as the steering currents collapse.

absolutely...nhc has done a great job on the track in the face of some rather dubious forecasts the last two days. oh well, hurricane forecasting certainly isnt an exact science as we all know.

Last night I was plagued with nightmares about this storm. I feel like I'm living on this website, trying to have the most up to date knowledge. The title of this message had me laugh and broke some of the tension I'm feeling. Thanks. :)

Is it time for therapy when you start dreaming about this stuff? Last night I dreamed we were all in this giant game of tag/scavenger hunt/hide and go seek and people were trying to find weatherduck and wxman. Just too weird for my tired brain. Hope it gives someone a chuckle and lets continue to chase Frances.

Um. Might I recommend some time away from the computer and TV for a bit? I know if I started dreaming like that, I'd be turning off the TV and computer and finding something else to do. A nice walk in the park to clear my mind......

Stewart's discussion at 11PM last night was one of the absolute best produced by the TPC in recent past. That's the kind of targeted, honest to God, information that is needed at a time like this. Granted, it is not something the average Joe on the street can digest but it provides the TV mets and others enough good information that they can properly inform their audiences.

explained on the 10:00pm weather that the reason some of the models looked like they were out to lunch yesterday was because of some erroneous data that had been given them by the Recon flights. No one to blame. It's the old saying"GIGO".
