Local Charleston SC Met says....

#1 Postby Charleston_eye » Thu Sep 02, 2004 6:23 am

Our local Met says that ridge appears to almost be strengthening a little and that likelihood is a FL landfall.

Also said however that we still need to watch the track for the next 24 hours. If the existing track forecast holds out for the next 24, then the Carolinas are out of the woods!

That is Allllllright by me!

A little side note. I have seen lots of talk bashing Carolina people I disagree with. Keep in mind that there have been various opinions on this board, from the media, and from the models. The only conclusion I have drawn from this FRANCES experience, is that at least for this storm, it's been very difficult to forecast and has been somewhat erratic.

Just cut some slack for those that may differ in opinion. The truth will prove itself eventually and who ever lay in the path of the ultimately true forecast better have been paying attention all this time, be it Florida, Georgia, SC, or CUBA!!

8-)

Later all!

Good luck my Florida friends!

Don't mind differences of opinion, as long as there is something to back the opinion up.

This storm has been rather confounding to many. Poor A98E might have to be admitted to a psychiatric ward.

Goose Creek and the low Country is so pretty its good that hopefully you will be missed.
I was there in 1989 and remember what Hugo was like, I remember what it looked like the day before and after. It was just very lucky that the worst was in the Francis Marion & Bulls Bay area but the damage was incredible.
Who would want to see such damage again?
Thats why is so unbelievable to me that there appears to be so many people in NC almost wishing for such a awful event. But a great deal of these people appear to live farther inland and maybe think it will be fun because they are so far inland. Wasn't the case in Hugo, might not be the case in Frances?

Take Care,
Mike

I couldn't agree more. I was also in Charleston during Hugo, in fact I lived right on the Ashley River behind the Old St Andrews church.

I was in the Navy then and we had to head to see to avoid Hugo, but will never forget the destruction from Hugo that awaited us when we returned.

Driving down Ashley River road to get home a few days after Hugo, I was heartbroken to see the damage to all the tree's which had stood for so long.

I pray that those who are now in the path of Francis will take the proper precautions to protect themselves, and know that those of use that survived Hugo as well as the many other destructive hurricanes will pray for your safety.

my local met said last night that recent upper air analysis are showing that that is stronger than forecast and could be hold on even longer. This could be why the models are trending more south and west.
