Miami Lakes, Florida (Northwest Miami-Dade County)

With my parents in Kendall (S. Dade), property in Key Largo, and 9 month pregnant sister in Lake Worth (S. Palm Beach county), I'm feeling that this storm will in some way effect me.......

Nokomis, 1 mile north of the island of Venice. 300 feet from Shakett Creek and Dona Bay, 1/2 mile as the crow flies from here to the Venice inlet to the Gulf.

And 11 feet above sea level in a 1920s house that the guy who refinished my heart pine floors said, "had water in it at one time" based on what he saw in the wood.

Clearwater Beach here. Eveacuated into Charley and now suppose I'll wait it out to see if I'll experience another 100+mph system. This isn't cool. Looks like Arcadia, Winter Haven and few others cities may be unrecognizable after this.

I'm in Coral Springs (Northern Ft. Lauderdale suburb). But I have a mother and sister (and her family) over in Naples, a sister-in-law and her family in Tampa, uncle in Tampa, and two daughters in Tallahassee.

So odds are, this is affecting my family, if not me directly.

I know just about enough to sound like I know what I'm talking about sometimes. But for your safety please follow the nhc for truly professional forecasting. :D

Pinellas county people, I spent the last hurricane at Largo High School shelter and it wasn't bad at all.

Air condition, tv, free food. No problems at all. Give it a thought if it looks like the storm will hit us hard.

Also you are free to leave the shelter whenever you want, they don't lock you in or anything.
