I'm not posting to be inflammatory, I'm just stating a fact. Unless you are a meteorologist with some forecasting experience under your belt, these models are of very limited use to you.

That isn't true. How does one expect to be able to train meteorologists if met students aren't able to read and interpret model information? I assure you, this met student can read models and accurately interpret them. Its critical to my future sucess.

Agreed. I think you know what I'm saying. No met professor in the country begins and ends Met 101 with "how to read models", then hands out the diplomas. Models alone don't make a forecast. Models are an integral part of forecasting, but if it's your only part, then the models are of very limited use.

You know what that just told me... because I am a novice at weather I am not allowed to even look at models and comment on them because someone might think what I say is fact. The true fact of the matter is NO ONE should take what anyone says on this board over what the NHC is forecasting. NO ONE should decide how to react to a storm based on the information they find here. EVERYONE should listen to their local officials on how to prep and react. My understanding is this board is made for novices and pro's alike. That is what makes this forum so special and popular. All can share information, react and get feedback. If that wasn't the case how would anyone learn anything. I can not stop people from not listening to their goverment officials, but I do not feel I should have to be censored or quit being interested in my hobby just because others choose to do just that. Just my 2 cents *winks*

EDIT: fixed a couple of major typos...sure there are more in here.

I pay only slight attention to models. They do give general direction, but one, I cant read them, and 2, I dont really go by them. the only models I used for this storm were my own eyes and the sat pics. I saw the ridge building west, I called for central FL landfall days ago, and it turns out I am practically right htis itme. Im no forecaster, but I have learned a great deal about climatology since hte start of htis season and a bit of last year too. But my forecast came not from a model, but from my own interpetations of what I saw.
