Anyone remember Floyd?
Frances has taken a simular path to that of 99 Hurricane Floyd. With Floyd all models predicted it to hit the Fla coast many people were evacuated and headed north, warnings were issued, then just as it got right off the coast of Fla it started turning so they continued the warnings into GA coast, then SC coast, then finally NC and that is where it made landfall. Does anyone think there is a possiblity that Frances could do the same? I saw on the last model a slight turn. As a matter of fact our local weather made a comment that over half the tropical systems that hit the bahamas also head toward NC. I am a eastern NC girl and like to keep on the lookout.

Actually Floyd was indeed forecast to make a more northward turn BUT the NHC was not sure when and where it would happen but in general a turn was expected. As for the model runs, I am not sure which ones you are looking at but the latest runs we have now are all showing a central Florida landfall.
