This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The Ridge...weaker or stronger????

#1 Postby Johnny » Thu Sep 02, 2004 4:36 pm

This board is getting a little out of hand. LOL

Some are saying there is a weakness in the ridge and Frances will start moving towards Georgia, South Carolina or even North Carolina. Another group is saying that Frances is slowing down and the ridge has strengthened and Frances could start heading due west into the GOM!! Well, which one is it? Each group seems to be sure of themselves. Thanks.

lets start with the most evident fact at the current time...

Frances has not moved much in the last 2 hours.....

biggest questions:

temporary due to inner core processes?
preceding a "turn"?

time will tell.

It's kind of hard to tell which way it's moving with the screwed up loop I'm looking at. Is there an eclipse going on or what?

Too many people accessing the site so the NHC has cut back
on the loops.

FWIW, try this. http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~rickk/frances.html

Not sure how up to date the last images are, but you can't beat the enhanced res.

Great loop thanks!!!

Though I don't like the look of that last frame.
She "looks" like she took a nice jog to left at the very
end.

Yep Stormcenter, that thought just crossed my mind as well, but we'll need to see a few more hours worth of loop to determine the importance of the apparent "jog" W.
