WHEN IS people gonna stop....(warning rant!!!)

#1 Postby rtd2 » Thu Sep 02, 2004 7:08 pm

Listening to t.v. mets...I've read 5 or 6 post in 10 min. dealing with speculation by locals...(hey thats our job! :grr: ) seriously like the miami all clear...not! Me and a few others have been saying this for 2 days! and until shes north of you STAY alert. Previous post I talked about the ridge filling in at the sw and turning her back on a west or wnw now the special staement FROM NHC..hinting to this and we STILL got the local mets from N.O. to Miami with IDIOTIC statements...SURE ITS 100% recommended to listen to mets as storm aprproaches(closer to L/F) but dont let them right off your town! just like the big recurve to FLA-GA. I dont Buy it and have over and over posted my prediction but YOU cant find where I CLEARED anybody from a chance! For days Ive said S.FLA THEN GOMEX cause I didnt think the turn would happen but could it? not likelty but possible! this is a dangerous situation and I hope I can help and no hinder here. I'm no pro but ai acan read maps and love wx...well thats my rant!

Ranting is good for the soul!

I agree with you. Anyone saying that Miami or GA/SCis in the clear RIGHT NOW is being totally irresponsible.

I've seen this said (typed?) a lot here on s2k, but is that a hard and fast rule? Or is the rule just applicable when a tropical system is in the general area Frances is in (coming in low)?

I ask because in the past I've had fun picking out some of the crazier storm paths from the Unisys site and it seemed like at least a few of them have somewhat dramatically moved south during their travels.

Generally you'll see these nuttier tracks when the steering currents aloft aren't very strong. This was the case with Elena in 1985, for example.

BTW, I have an aunt that lives in Diamondhead, Quickychick. Small world, eh?

No kidding! I love it here in the Head, I just wish it weren't so easy to get lost when you go for a walk. The streets here, they are tortuous.

Thanks for the answer, too :)

yep - I don't think it is coming to NC know but even our local casters blew this thing off tonight. We are going to have a great labor day weekend they said. Going into FL and staying well to our west. They need to keep a little interest until it is surely onland somewhere.
