Price Gouging

#1 Postby jagesq » Thu Sep 02, 2004 11:05 pm

Is anyone else in Florida experiencing some serious and very illegal price gouging. Come on, when there is no wood and everybody needs it, some clowns are gonna charge 45 bucks a sheet. And they belong in jail. Same goes for expensive hotels in the offseason, huge rise in plane prices, and my personal favorite at my local gas station.....5.75 for a gallon of milk.

5.75 for MILK??? Who wants milk when a Hurricane is on the way? It'll just spoil. They should be giving it away lol.

Price Gouging is terrible and you are right, they should be punished....

I guess they are trying to make up for the loss in the coming days, but after the storm is when stores are full of people shopping again. Duh!

You should right down the place of business, the item(s) and price(s), and ask to speak to the owner and take his name--if he wants to know why--tell him when the storm is over you are going to report him to the proper people, including the BBB.

The Florida Attorney General has established a "price gouging" hotline (1-800-646-0444) you can call or you can file a complaint online -- details at http://myfloridalegal.com/pages.nsf/0/3 ... enDocument

5.75 for a gallon of milk.

Actually, our local Winn Dixie charges around 5.50 for a gallon of McArthur milk, on an average day. I know it's ridiculous, but they do, lol.

Hmmmm... makes me wanna go out and get a willow branch and do some tanning.

Turn them in and then after the storm, post a big sign near their property letting others know about their lowlife price gouging.

People who try to benefit from anothers misfortune make me sick.
