Have pretty much written off Frances as a major S. Florida event. Wind shear from high in Carribean, more northerly track...

yoda, why are you consistently backing up hurricane_lover and his negative attitude on this board?

What do you mean? What negative attitude? The post I made was a statement of what he said. I only back him up because of all the stuff going on surrounding him.

Lame attempt at satire . ie. N.C. - his guess at North Carolina is Not Close. Probably should have gone with Slim Chance though. :D

However, he may be right in a way. A lot of storms after they weaken after going inland tend to trend in that direction.

negative attitude = his prowling the forum for opportunities to throw out "told you so's"

and yes, you are backing him up, i would assume because you feel this is appropriate to do on a discusssion board of this nature. since this storm will not make landfall for more than 24 hours, why wouldn't he want to show some restraint?

I only back him up when people start doing stuff to him. Yes, I know his forecast is wrong. Yes, I know its not going to the Carolinas. Hmm, let me talk to him then over PM.

Sigh... more hash words. Not getting involved or backing up anyone. But I would be interested in hurricane_lover's reason for thinking so strongly this is going up north. I am always open to others views.

fine, talk to him... but what exactly is "doing stuff to him"? responding to his posts? calling him on his sh*t? letting him know that this is a more civil forum than he thought it was?

i've lurked this place for a year, rarely posting, and never forecasting landfalls because i'd prefer to leave that to people who have the appropriate skills. so, i guess i'm a little more sensitive to folks who fail to show respect to the meteorlogical field and those that are in it.

All that stuff in that one thread that Marshall locked I find is downright horrendous and rude, to say the least, AFTER he left the thread.
