Did anyone hear...

My husband called me and said that at the tropical update at 11, that some guy said it could make landfall between central and northern FL. Is this true??????/

It is possible.

It has been possible for many days now.

Hurricanes are not a point. They are over 100 miles wide in some cases.

Hurricanes are also known to change direction at the last minute. So anything is possible.

I'm not sure what the news media are saying, but it seems to me that the fact that Frances has slowed down, and weakened, may indicate that she is about to undergo a substantial shift in direction. I would not be surprised.

But I don't know that that necessarily means that she would head towards Central and Northern FL. She could, but who knows.

Thank you very much for the info.....Last we had heard it would pass way south and all we would get was rain and light winds.

One computer model, the GDFL, says Jacksonville. Another, the UKMET, says Melbourne.

Anywhere between the two is fair game.

But remember. Jacksonville will be in the NE quadrant no matter where Frances comes ashore in Florida.

I would expect flooding rains, very gusty winds, and the possiblilty of tornadoes if I were you.

Sorry to bring the bad news.

If you have not made any storm preparations, I would do so now.

Make sure you have a full tank of gas, cash in your wallet, bottles water. and non-perishable food.
