This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

...Tronbunny is right, but it's not something that the national media should be obsessed with since it affects 2% of the population of the country.

Hmmm, 2% of population vs. 1 former president....
consider the broader repercussions affecting national economy.
But, I don't like the obsessions of the media anyway.
I've gotten panicked calls from friends all over the world.
They're fears are not unfounded.

Although, if Derek Ortts earlier forecast of 105mph at landfall holds....I will regret none of my preparations (pain agony, financial hardships, 2 hour wait for gas) or even overly stressed emotions.
This is a genuine red alert, well founded.

A red alert, well-founded for Florida...not the entire country.

Y'all forget that the majority of people now in Florida are from other parts of the country -- and all have relatives and friends in those areas.

The economic implications are enormous, as well, for the entire country.

I don't have cable, so I can't speak to what's happening there, but any national news flashes I've seen have covered the storm AND Clinton.

And I don't think it's a BadThing for them to cover other issues... frankly, the 24/7 storm coverage during Charley was absolutely CRAZY MAKING.

I can see no reason to put the unaffected (dangerous weatherwise) parts of the country through that.
