Can anyone tell me in layman's terms what the pressure of the hurricane means? It sounds like the higher the pressure gets, the better. Is that right? Can anyone explain to this dumb blonde what this means?

The lower the pressure in the storm, the strong the storm will be. As you can see with today's advisories on Frances, the day started out around 940MBs (not sure exactly) and the winds were around 135 (again not exactly sure) and now at 8PM the pressure has risen to 960ish or so and the winds have decreased to 105 MPH. Hope this helps.
