I should have known better
I admit I was wrong. Frances is a female name after all...I was trying to deny it, but its true. And it is doing what female-named storms have typically done over the past 15-20 years...crapping out. History repeating itself...it takes a strong male name in this day and age to cause serious wind damage.
Not even the warmest gulf stream waters will strengthen this storm, which quite frankly is embarrassing itself right now. It's absolutely killing itself by sitting stationary and churning up cooler water. Not to mention that this will be yet another storm that sets back future evacuations. "You mean we evacuated for THIS?" That's what a lot of people are going to say.

Frances is female, Francis is male.
The names alternate male/female, so Earl was the last one, that's male. Therefore Frances is female not only by spelling, but by order. As far as the female named storms "crapping out" and the male ones not, I think this reveals more about the poster than the post.

Not going to say. Saying it now. There are some big fights in some of the shelters with folks who want to go back. The next time they won't leave. Guaranteed. And the next time, people won't be so quick to board up or get out the shutters.
Of course, it ain't over til it's over.
