Formal Apology

#1 Postby Stormtrack03 » Fri Sep 03, 2004 9:26 pm

To all Storm2k members,

This is a formal apology for my actions a few nights ago regarding my poor and unacceptable behavior that I portrayed. For those of you unfamilliar of what happened, I will quickly summarize that night events.

I posted a message on the message board bashing NHC and their forecast because at that time I felt that they did not have it correct and I felt my forecast was more accurate and reliable. Not only did I post my own forecast, when people starting replying to my post, I replied back and kept on defending myself and became quite angry. Marshall (mf_dolphin) decided that I went too far with the NHC bashing and deleted my post. At that point, I did the dumbest thing possible. Instead of privately talking to Marshall aboout the situation and trying to reason in a smart and intelligent way, I went on and called Marshall a "moron" publicly as a new topic on the message board. As a result, I was banned from storm2k chat and the board.

Looking back on this now, I have realized I made a mistake and I didnt really mean to call Marshall what I did. I have great respect for him, and appreciate everything he has done since he has been with storm2k. I left my anger take control of me, and I take full responsibility for my actions. My behavior was not right, and not the typical person I really am in Storm2k.

I am lucky to have a second chance as Marshall has reinstitued my board and chat room rights. I am grateful to know a lot of people here at storm2k, a lot of which are my close friends as well. I thank you for all the support you have given me even through times where I have struggled in my life.

I hope everyone can accept my apology here and I do promise to react smarter and have a better behavior for now on. I hope our tropics talk in the future will be as fun and informative as it has been all this time.

Thanks,

Shawn Oberoi (Stormtrack03)

Seems pretty sincere to me - and I don't even know the individual. It takes a big person to apologize with sincerity - regardless of the issues. Something the rest of the world could learn something from...

It takes big Kahonis to admit when we are wrong. Lets face it, we all get pumped up and full of adrenaline as a storm aproaches and we can all get snappy. I have only been following this board for 3 weeks since Charley but I really believe this is a sincere family-like board.

I'll say this, If I was in Miami/ Ft. L, I'd be about nuts right now, and God knows what I'd be posting. :)

We are certainly all frustrated, especially those of us in the path of this storm. Thanks to you for your apology -- even though I was never personally offended, it's great to see a post like yours! :-)

Shawn, thanks for the apology. We do our best to keep S2K a pleasant place to be. I will say I have know you for at least 5 years here on the net and have watched you grow and mature, especially in your understanding of the weather and how it works. Keep up the good work and hopefully lessons learned from this episode will stick with you and maybe help others.
