Local Met Steve Weagle
Says that the dry air over florida is giving way to the storm, might allow minor restrengthening and steadily increasing squall lines. He also said that the squall lines are intensifying as they pass over the gulf stream which is clear watching the radar. He hinted this rapid intensification could occur tommorrow as the whole storm passes over the gulf stream. Could be a cat 3 again when she makes landfall?

Think he may be on to something...guessing that you are in WPB...I met him a few months ago and was able to get a couple of questions in...seems to be knowledgable even if he's a little cheesy. I'd rank him #2 amoung the SFL mets if he were down here instead of up there.
Yep...those bands have been firing up as they have been hitting the gulf stream.

Despite his quasi propensity for hype...Bryan Norcross has my upmost respect. He does far more for awareness than the other main 3 mets do combined.
Although...Roland Stedham does come in a distant second.

MWatkins,
I do agree with you regarding Norcross and Steadham..naturally Norcross does the hype up of everything because of Andrew
I use to like Bill Kamal on the Fox affiliate down here but most of the time he is very pessimistic regarding storms, especially this storm...although I have to give him credit....he was the only one to have said Irene was moving much closer to Miami-Dade than what other forecasters were predicting back in 1999
Norcross gets the reputation because of Andrew

Actually...I would put Kamal in the number 3 spot...hard to rank him above Stedham...Don Noe gets number 4 because he always looks for a reason to minimize something before he looks for the truth...and because of that dang annoying 1970's DJ voice of his.

I would also put Kamal 3rd but a distant 3rd from them..Don Noe gets on my nerves sometimes..Bob Soper should retire already IMO

Cloud tops are very cold, the gulf is very warm. Sounds like a receipe for intensification.
