Needed new RECON report

#1 Postby tailgater » Sat Sep 04, 2004 7:55 am

Don't think there's a plane due into frances until 1800 UTC Hoping they get one out there quicker than that cuz it looks like from sat. pics it's wraping up fast. NOTE when a storm is intensifing during land fall it can ramp up quickly and carry strong winds inland much farther than a storm holding it's own or weaking.

They are still going in every 3 hours until landfall. Don't be surprised to see VDMs every 1-2 hours today - that's about the rate they came out during the day yesterday as well.

newbie alert
As for that plan of the day...
Aren't there at least 2 agencies that do the recon?
So one agency POD would be coordinated with another?

The NHC coordinates all recon missions. NOAA and the Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters are the two agencies involved. The Hurricane Hunters mainly do the low level track and intensity stuff with NOAA doing the high level environment and research data gathering. :-)

Thanks mf_dolphin.
Very informative.
I can get bits of data from my research, but I know I need another brain to bounce it off to get the clearer picture.
That's what this place does best!
