don't freak just yet....that is one model's data, not an actual storm or even a forecast...just one possibility.

The time for the models is pretty well over for Florida. Radar works much better :-)

Is that also true for the panhandle? I thought that was the point of this thread.

Uh Oh... Instead of the battle of NC vs. FL, this could be the new one... FLA vs. GOM... And the hits just KEEP on coming :lol:

Radar will now be able to track Frances on it's full path through Florida and where ever it heads when it gets into the GOM. My comment was meant to say that it's a much better tool when a hurricane is close. The whole NE GOM better keep an eye out.

Thanks for the clarification.
I have family & friends in the Pensacola area, so I am watch that closely as well as hanging out here waiting north of Tampa for the rain & wind

NHC has it just a weak tropical storm at the FL Panhandle landfall around Panama City and Apalachicola.

NHC may have to adjust track to the left allowing more time over Gulf for Frances to strengthen.

Well why don't we let the people who actually know something about hurricanes do that. People rely too much on models without knowing what they're talking about half the time on this board.

Big Mike that is one heck of a generalization for someone who is new to this site. I am not saying there are not people on this site that rely too much on the models, because there are some, however this site is also dedicated to helping "newbies" learn about the weather and how weather processes work and part of that is learning how to interpret and use the models. If you are so knowledgeable about the models then please help the others that are less knowledgeable out with an explanation instead of basically insulting at least half the membership of this site.
