Fox News has had excellent coverage of Frances. I've seen more/better coverage from them than TWC.

MSNBC is doing pretty good job if you haven't watched them.

Fox News does well when Shep is on, particularly it seems to me. I think he is a secret tropical weather geek

they should stick to car chases....pressure not down, winds not up, satellite presentation is terrible..

Before Fox, Shep was a Florida broadcaster. He's got a unique delivery, and his after-Charley stuff was good.

In my area, Faux News is currently running a lengthy informercial on a steam cleaner, not the weather. I guess money comes first.

Yeah MSRob, I flip it around sometimes but Fox has really dedicated extensive air time to Frances. I was actually a bit surprised to see such continuing coverage and then a flip it to TWC and get commercials or a tree pollen map.
Max Mayfield has been on a lot as well.

That's your local Fox. We're talking about the cable news channel Fox News.

Satellite presentaion isn't terrible. Ed Rappaport from NHC was just on said it looks much better than it did yesterday and still gave some chance of intensification and said it is certainly holiding its own.

While that may be. It certainly doesn't look terrible. Still a possibility for intensification with the Gulf stream.

Satelite presentation and actual pressure, don't really have anything in common. Satelite presentation is what it is, a picture and is not the actual climate data, associated with a storm. Thus, you MAY be mistaken on the intensification.

Tropical system representation on satelite, many times run behind what is actually happening inside the storm. Pressure drops can take place ahead of what the satelite presentation shows.

Just a thought.

For the record... Al Roker just said forecasters say it "appears" to be strengthening.

Dennis... it's a strong Category 2. It's not supposed to look like a dang Cat 5 man.

On the contrary dennis the current T numbers are 5.0/5.0 according to the dvorak satellite intensity chart that places the satellite intensity at

5 90 KTS 970 mb 954 mb 2 (84-96 KTS); 3 (97-113 KTS)

Cat 2 or 3

In this case it does look like a Cat 2 on satellite

Shep worked for WKMG-CBS Channel 6 in Orlando (it was WCPX back then) in the early 90s. He covered several Hurricanes. He was usually the poor guy they sent to stand on the beach in a raincoat. He actually almost died covering a storm when he went unconscious from CO fumes from the junky van he was working in.
