I almost think the fact that she was a Cat 2 didn't even matter as over 2 million people are apparently w/o power and she hasn't even come on shore yet. With such slow movement this could be equally as damaging as Charley. She has several hours to go over water still - a drop in pressure that much in only an hour may mean she is in a rapid deepening phase.

Not as bad as folks in the northern eyewall, but it will still be bad. Expect sustained hurricane force winds tonight for a prolonged period of time.

The Melbourne radar is really starting to look impressive. This storm is really getting it's act back together in a hurry. Also, she's finally...FINALLY...starting to move.

Also, if she keeps deepening rapidly up until landfall, the surge could be enormous from Cape Canaveral and points south...especially since high tide will be up in a few hours.

Wouldn't such a sudden drop warrant an update from the NHC? Not that it matters much as the 8 PM advisory will be soon anyways.
