1.1 Million People Without Power

#1 Postby caneman » Sat Sep 04, 2004 9:00 pm

Just saw it on CNN. Hope you West and Central Floridians planned for that. Too many off my neighbors in Pinellas have been lacksadasical about it but having gone thru Charley in Kissimmee I now know how little it takes to knock out the power. Scary thing is with so many people without power I don't even want to think how long it would take to get it back.

caneman, I am definitely prepared but I know a lot of people in this area who didn't take this storm seriously. "It's just a tropical storm, been there done that" seemed to be the thinking for a lot of people up until this morning. I have been making the rounds for supplies since Tuesday and yesterday was the first time I saw a lot of people stocking up. Then this morning I decided to go to Walmart for a few things and it was pandemonium.
