So what do you think the damage will be like?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

So what do you think the damage will be like?

Similar scale to Charley when it's all said and done? 7-10 billion? or much less? more?

This storm will be really interesting. I think there will be heavy wind damage, and major flooding damage as it just batters some parts of the coast with hurricane force winds for over 24 hours?

Do you think there is going to be a area where the damage is close to Charleys?

As much as Charley, but not as severe and FAR, FAR more widespread. Lots of flooding will also occur. I think it may surpass Charley as 2nd most costliest.

I think there will be an area of damage in a 200 mile swath around the eye.

From looking at radar and satellite, I don't think damage will be as catastrophic, but, there will be quite a bit of damage. There is no way I could guess the dollar amount--but, damage will be more widespread. I know alot of people will be frustrated and in the dark through Labor Day.

It will be more than Charley. Winds lower yes but the widespread nature of sustained winds and torrential rains will be very costly. Many Rivers in and around Tampa Bay are are near Flood Stage already.

The severity of the damage will be less than Charley, but more than your average Cat 2. Remember, even Charley could have been worse if he had moved at a slower speed. I think flooding is going to what this system is remembered for...

Remains to be seen guys. Remember we've yet to deal with any flooding. Flooding wasn't a problem with Charley.

But much much larger and moving much slower. I wouldn't be surprised if it equalled Charley. Different coast. Different towns, cities, etc. Never know. It will be interesting to find out next week.

I agree. From what I've been told a slow mover with sustained winds for a long period of time can be very damaging as it can wear down structures and most certainly foliage. We still have to see if the rainfall amounts pan out too and lets not forget any storm surge damage.

This storm is alot like Isabel...It is large with a large wind field it is also a cat2 which Isabel made landfall with 100 mph winds. The pressures where lower then Isabels with this storm. Plus this storm has lasted about twices as long as Isabel. My Est damage total is 3.0 billion!
