Update - NHC confirms landfall area

#1 Postby Terry » Sun Sep 05, 2004 12:10 am

NHC confirms landfall between Jenson Beach and Stuart - just like Tom Terry was showing on doppler.

Red Cross planning much larger relief than with Andrew.

The calm of the eye just starting in Ft. Pierce/Hwy 70 area and should last 3 hours or so. (Stay inside anyway!)

Sebastian now gewtting leading edge - 80 - 90- mph winds

Roof blew off K-mart in Ft. Pierce.

Barefoot Bay ?? roof blew off a home and fire dept. had to do a rescue with flying debris. Family taken to shelter.

Earlier report off west coast --- sailboater off Anna Maria island with several children on board (3 ?) reported need of rescue. Last I heard, the Coast Guard had suspended search. Info requested from anyone with updates.

Getting windier in south Lakeland, but not much at all. Then again, I'm on the north side of a lake and protected from the north and east by other homes!
