Lake Okeechobee Update..NHC

Storm surge occuring on the south side of the lake:

just heard a report about the lake also, on cbs 4, according to local mets and reports from the lake, the levi is going to have great plenty of room to hold the surge. said the total water level was going to be around 20 feet and the levi would hold 30 feet. whew.

It is not a lake resort area or anything like you would think of in another area of the country, but there are some people who live near the lake. Many in mobile homes and other small houses.

I honestly haven't been down that way in a number of years, so perhaps there is someone more familiar who can better answer your question.
